VANCOUVER – Global industry non-profit Textile Exchange is predicting an 84 per cent increase in demand for organic cotton by the year 2030, compared to a 2019/2020 baseline.

The forecast - based on a survey of Textile Exchange members and members of the wider Organic Cotton Round Table community (OCRT) - is contained in the organisation's first-ever Organic Cotton Demand Insights report.

Although only 16 of the 116 respondents provided forecast data, Textile Exchange claims the findings are credible as these 16 companies - mostly brands - represented 60 per cent of global organic cotton uptake in 2019/20.
