LONDON - The British Fashion Council (BFC) is calling on brands to reduce the demand for new clothes by 50 per cent to reduce waste and create a circular fashion ecosystem for the UK.

The call is made in a new Circular Fashion Ecosystem (CFE) report from the BFC's Institute of Positive Fashion (IPF) which seeks to address the industry’s current impact on the planet through linear production models.

It says that the UK fashion market is one of the biggest in the world, with revenues of £118 billion (US$162bn), 890,000 workers and contributing £35 billion (US$48bn) to the UK’s pre-pandemic GDP.
