VANCOUVER – Environmental-non-profit Canopy has announced that a new cohort of fashion firms including All Saints, Shein, Target Australia and River Island have joined its CanopyStyle initiative.

By doing so, the brands commit to ensuring their viscose supply chain is free of materials sourced from ancient or endangered forests, adopting ‘next generation’ alternative fibres from recycled textiles and agricultural residues, and using Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified forest fibre only where necessary.

Nicole Rycroft, Canopy’s executive director, commented: “We are so encouraged to see this new wave of global fashion brands committing to revolutionise their supply chains to keep vital forests standing and scale the production of next gen alternatives.”
