DARMSTADT – German start-up Revoltech has secured a seven-figure investment which it’ll use to scale the production of its vegan leather substitute.
The company, founded last year, is a spin-out from the university TU Darmstadt, and claims to have developed a material made entirely from plant-based ingredients that produces less than one per cent of the carbon emissions associated with conventional animal leather production.
“With this seed round, we are financing our market entry. The next two years will be about making the step from lab to industry,” said Montgomery Wagner, co-founder and chief operating officer of Revoltech.
