STUTTGART – The latest version of the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) has been released today and includes new requirements to conduct risk-based due diligence on certified entities with a broader human rights-focused approach and now includes the use of recycled organic fibres. A general ban on PFAS and restrictions around conventional cotton and virgin polyester are all maintained and there are new requirements for chemical formulators.
Version 7.0 of the GOTS standard was finalised through a revision process with over 600 inputs received during two public consultation periods.
It becomes effective as of 1 March 2024.
