WASHINGTON DC / AGUASCALIENTES - The US and Mexico have agreed on a course of remediation at a denim factory in Mexico where garment workers had accused their employer of union-busting.

The action, at the Industrias del Interior (INISA) factory in the state of Aguascalientes, followed a complaint made by worker representatives under the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement’s (USMA) Rapid Response Labor Mechanism (RRLM).

It was the first time the US has intervened in a complaint from the garment industry under the trade agreement. The Frente Auténtico del Trabajo (FAT) labour organisation and the Sindicato de Industrias del Interior trade union, which represents workers at the factory, asked the US to intervene in May.
