LONDON - Researchers from London’s Brunel University are working on a project to explore whether bacteria found in polystyrene waste could be used to break down polyester fibres.

The work is another example of how scientists are finding that bacteria and other microorganisms appear to be evolving biological mechanisms to break down synthetic polymers in the environment.
