CLERMONT-FERRAND - Biotech firm Carbios has confirmed construction plans for the world’s first PET biorecycling plant, which will use the company’s propriety depolymerisation technology for the processing of textile waste.

Carbios has struck a deal with De Smet Engineers & Contractors for construction of the facility at Longlaville in the Grand-Est Region of France on a 13.7-hectare site adjacent to the existing PET production plant of its strategic partner, Indorama Ventures (IVL). Commissioning is expected in 2025.
