WASHINGTON DC - The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced plans to protect the US textile industry by tightening up restrictions on imports suspected of being produced with forced labour.

The DHS says it has intensified the checking of small package shipments which previously evaded inspections under the 'de minimis' exemption which allowed the direct to consumer parcels of ultra fast fashion companies, such as Shein, to avoid checks.
