Scientists admit it sounds like downcycling but say their process could save old clothes from the incinerator
GRAZ - Researchers in Austria say they have developed a way to recover cellulose fibres from used clothing and use them to produce cardboard and other packaging materials.
A team at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) adapted processes from paper production to transform post-consumer garments which they say would otherwise go to landfill or incineration.
