Report backs Mozambique secondhand clothing sector

New report calls for a balanced approach to global second-hand clothing trade amid growing policy debates on environmental sustainability

The research shows that the secondhand clothing industry provides $650 per month on average in earnings for well-established vendors

A new report has revealed the vital role that the secondhand clothing industry is playing in the daily lives and economy of Mozambique.

The report, commissioned by Aid for the Development of People for People (ADPP) Mozambique and written jointly by food aid specialists Consulting For Africa (CFA) and investment firm Abalon Capital, says that the industry offers a lifeline for millions of Mozambicans – with over 200,000 formal and informal jobs directly supporting over one million livelihoods - while also offering a major catalyst for economic growth.
