Study claims to be the first comprehensive assessment of methane emissions associated with the production of leather, wool and cashmere
NEW YORK - A new study which claims to be the first to assess the methane footprint for the global fashion sector concludes with an urgent call on the sector to curb its emissions.
Carried out by researchers at New York University and Cornell University, in conjunction with the Collective Fashion Justice nonprofit, it assesses the fashion industry's annual methane footprint at an estimated 8.3 million tonnes — almost four times that of France.
