In a new report, US non-profit Accelerating Circularity says design and recycling solutions for trims and ‘ignored materials’ are essential to “unlocking true textile circularity”
NEW YORK – Non-profit organisation Accelerating Circularity has warned in a new report that significant change is required to the design and recycling of trims and ‘ignored materials’ if the textile industry is to become fully circular.
In the report, titled ‘Toward Circular Systems for Trims and Ignored Materials (CSTIM): Challenges and Opportunities’, the group points to what it says are some of the most “persistent barriers” to textile-to-textile (T2T) recycling – “the overlooked components that make up garments and products beyond the fabric itself”.
