New report from UK charity WRAP says textile industry sustainability gains are being wiped out by surging production
LONDON - Signatories to UK waste recycling charity WRAP'S UK Textiles Pact have made progress in reducing their environmental impacts but surging production is erasing these gains, according to a new report.
Signatories have achieved a 6% reduction in carbon emissions and used 9% less water per tonne of textiles since 2019, with reuse, recycling and peer-to-peer resale initiatives displacing 1.12 million tonnes of CO₂e in 2024 alone.
