Electricity and chemical inputs critical for climate impacts, with recycling benefits dependent on cleaner grids and carefully-sourced feedstock
OAKLAND — Textile Exchange’s new polyester life cycle assessment - the second in a planned series of seven “LCA+” studies - warns that both virgin and recycled routes are highly exposed to electricity mix and upstream chemical production.
The industry body's LCA+ project is designed to go beyond traditional life cycle assessment to plug data gaps on high‑volume fibres and improve the quality of environmental impact data for raw material production.
