EU packaging rules are ‘burden’ on textiles

BERLIN – As the European Packaging Regulation comes into effect, the textile and clothing industry faces complex new compliance requirements that create a heavy bureaucratic burden and severe legal uncertainties for companies across the entire sector.

That’s the view of the German Business and employers’ association Südwesttextil which has strongly criticised the legislation, which officially entered into application on 12 August, and introduces extensive obligations impacting every facet of apparel logistics and presentation, from shipping cartons and carrier bags to hanging tags.
