The Taiwan textile industry remains one of the most significant sectors of the manufacturing industry and ranks among the top 9 in the world by export value: US $7.1 billion in 2021. While those figures actually represent a fall in the overall export value of its textiles in recent years, product differentiation has helped Taiwan evolve, after more than 60 years of development, from a mass production textile supplier to an innovator focusing on high value-added materials.

Facing the challenges of global warming, the demand for efficient processing of raw materials, clean energy restrictions, and environmental pollution is increased. As a country that cares about sustainable development, Taiwan’s textile industry attaches great importance to introduce advanced technology and use recycled materials to produce environmentally friendly products. The move aims to reduce the negative impact on the environment and support a more sustainable “circular economy.

Eco friendliness is in the DNA of Taiwan’s textile industry, and it is the leader in recycled polymer and polymer blends. Taiwan provides innovative textile solutions which are compliant with bluesign, GRS, RWS, RCS, Higg Index, Oeko-Tex Standard 100, and Restricted Substance Lists of brands. The industry in Taiwan is constantly introducing new sustainable textile developments which combine high-tech, ecology, functionality and life aesthetics.

In order to strengthen the Taiwanese textile industry’s position as a sourcing hub for major brands around the world, the Taiwan Textile Federation has implemented the Textile Export Promotion Project, which promotes premium textile exporters, for instance host online a new product launch, featuring five companies:

ACEGREEN’s adheres to the attitude of "Return to Nature", combining advanced technology and environmental protection concepts to develop GreenCell (Lyocell filament). This material retains the characteristics of natural cellulose, and the fabric can be fully biodegraded after being discarded and buried.

HONMYUE’s NüCycle Nylon HT. is a recyclable high tenacity nylon membrane fabric which is made from pure composition and unique producing process to keeping fabric and materials in use for as long as possible. NüCycle Nylon HT saves more useless nylon fabric waste.

KINGWHALE is the first Asia Pacific textile manufacturer to join the RE100 Initiative. RevioTM technology regenerate textile wastes. Kingwhale will establish a production line for collecting discarded garments and reviving them as sustainable fiber with environmentally safe treatments.

LIBOLON‘s CRZ system operates garment recycling program that recycles used polyester from garment and reproduces sustainable raw material. The main material will be reproduced into the new yarn raw material and being used in the making of the product that we expect. The cycle will be continuously living and achieve the endless regeneration concept.

SINGTEX’s S.Café® Ocean is a functional fabric made from S.Café® coffee yarns with discarded PET bottles which cooperated with Azure Alliance, a Taiwan nonprofit organization to collect from Taiwan’s shoreline. Compared with regular polyester S.Café® ocean can save petroleum and reduce Co2 emission and water. Using carbon emission can be reduced up to 54% totally.

The online streaming event is held via TTF’s Textile Export Promotion Project official Facebook and YouTube, do not miss this valuable opportunity to be the first one to see the revolutionary changes in the textile industry!
