LONDON – The UK
government has commissioned a study on how to procure sustainable clothing
within the country’s National Health Service.
The project, launched by Defra, will
investigate how staff uniforms can be procured in the public sector with a
greater emphasis on sustainable development. The aims are to provide guidance
in procurement exercises to deliver more cost effective solutions that do not
compromise on quality or function, and to record and understand the impacts of
procuring more sustainably.
