AMSTERDAM – Adidas, Nike, H&M and Zara apparel has all been tested in relation to the quantities of microfibres shed during laundering, as part of a study undertaken by the Institute for Polymers, Composites and Biomaterials at the Italian National Research Council (IPCB-CNR) and the Plastic Soup Foundation.

“It disappears in front of your eyes,” was the stark claim made regarding one of the garments exposed to testing; with results varying substantially between those selected in the sample group - and with only one brand’s apparel not performing ‘badly’.
