BARCELONA – ITMA 2019 saw the unveiling of many innovations in textile technology, most of which were showcased at the front of exhibitor stands. But an alleged ‘world first’ – a new machine that digitally prints the same design on both sides of a fabric – was kept under wraps in a Barcelona warehouse by the local agent of Chinese ITMA exhibitor Atexco, as it seeks to gain rapid market share.

The company, which says it has already seen lots of interest from suppliers of silk fabrics to top fashion luxury fashion houses, displayed a range of impressive lightweight printed fabrics on silk and silk blends that were almost 'hidden' at the back of its ITMA stand, for only “a handful of select customers” to see.

It's claimed that the new machine saves on both water, energy and inks to make a range of complex designs on a variety of fabric types.
