Textile factory boss jailed over COVID-19

SAN JUAN – A textile factory supervisor has been handed an eight month prison sentence in Argentina for making his employees work during a lockdown to limit the spread of coronavirus.

Jorge Zukerman, supervisor at a factory owned by a company called Soberman in the western city of San Juan, was also ordered to pay 50,000 Argentinian pesos (US$760) in court costs, reports the La Provincia SJ newspaper.

He was arrested during a police raid on a warehouse during which officers said they found 20 workers engaged in non-essential activities.
