ÄLMHULT – Swedish homeware giant IKEA has vowed to accelerate its transition to using only recycled polyester across its product range, after falling short of reaching its 2020 target.
The company had hoped to ensure 100 per cent of its textile products used recycled content by the end of last year, and now admits that it was a “bold ambition”, as the latest figures show that it reached 90 per cent.
As it looks to double down on this target, the company has now expanded its focus and will work to ensure all products containing polyester, including furniture, use only recycled content by 2030.
