CAIRO - Eight people have been killed and 29 injured after a reported explosion in a garment factory led to the collapse of a ten storey building in the Egyptian capital city of Cairo.

Eyewitnesses said the building collapsed after an explosion in a factory in the basement of the building in the Gesr El Suez area, in the east of Cairo.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident to search through the rubble of the accident for survivors and the bodies of the dead.
