LONDON – The First Sentier MUFG Sustainable Investment Institute has published a new report which highlights the main causes of textile microfibre pollution and details opportunities for intervention.
The institute’s report – Microfibres: The Invisible Pollution from Textiles – stresses the need for collaboration and a consolidated effort to ultimately stem the flow of these contaminants, both into the world’s oceans and within the atmosphere.
“There is no silver bullet solution for addressing microfibre pollution,” the authors note. “Therefore, it will take a combination of approaches that are deployed simultaneously, with actors from all sides pushing for change.”
