SACRAMENTO – Four major fashion industry groups have come out in support of proposals to introduce legislation in the US state of California to force major companies to publicly disclose their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions each year.

The American Apparel & Footwear Association, the Accessories Council, The Council of Fashion Designers of America and Fashion Makes Change are backing California’s proposed Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act (SB 253).

Introduced by Senators Scott Wiener, Lena Gonzalez and Henry Stern, the act would apply to all businesses with more than $1 billion in gross annual revenues that do business in the state of California.
