GENEVA – The International Labour Organization (ILO) has published the findings of its Commission of Inquiry into the decline of workers' rights in Myanmar since the military coup of February 2021.
They include evidence of far-reaching violations of freedom of association as well as forced labour risks in the country where global fashion brands are under pressure over their sourcing policies.
The ILO's Commission of Inquiry urges the Myanmar military junta to immediately cease all forms of violence, torture and other inhumane treatment against trade unionists, and to end all forced or compulsory labour.
