Fresh off a flight from the ZDHC Impact Day in The Netherlands, John Mowbray gives a quick overview of the talking points at the recent Amsterdam event for an express edition of Ecotextile Talks.

Coinciding with the visit of Donald Trump and other international political heavyweights for the NATO meeting in The Hague, the impact of US tariffs on the textile sector, was a key talking point among ZDHC delegates. But the requirement for more robust, verified and ‘investor-grade’ data, together with transparency around textile chemistry was the main discussion at the Amsterdam event.

Calls for the chemical industry to share this data more freely, despite costs and commercial considerations are getting louder.

The overall feeling was that while economic uncertainty, the pressure to reduce textile supply chain prices and the political winds of change are impacting sustainability progress, the feeling at the ZDHC event was one of “keep calm and carry on”.
