Chemicals giants ‘start to phase out PFAS’

BASF and Ecolab are among major chemical producers which are starting to phase out the so-called “forever chemicals”

GLOBAL - Major chemicals producers, including BASF and Ecolab, are stepping up plans to withdraw PFAS from their portfolios - a shift that is set to accelerate the move to fluorine‑free chemistries in textiles and apparel.

The changes come against a backdrop of mounting litigation and an evolving EU restriction that now explicitly targets technical textiles alongside other PFAS‑intensive sectors.​
