Sourcing from India’s textile processing hubs could be a strategic supply-chain risk for brands, but AI could help with the clean-up, says the World Economic Forum
GENEVA – Artificial intelligence could offer India a good chance to get ahead of its ongoing problems with river pollution by transforming how textile and tannery effluent is monitored, enforced, and managed.
That’s the view of the World Economic Forum (WEF), which this week published an essay arguing that existing continuous effluent monitoring systems in India generate plenty of data but too little “intelligence”, with enforcement often arriving weeks after violations.
