Taiwan textile sector tightens recruitment rules

TAIPEI – Taiwan’s textile mills have been urged to adopt a new set of responsible recruitment and employment guidelines for migrant workers in a move designed to align the sector with international labour and human rights standards.

The move from the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF)is designed to reassure global buyers on forced labour risks after a recent investigation by Transparentem, which documented excessive recruitment fees, long working hours, and other indicators of forced labour.
