EU fur phase-out put at €144m

A five-year EU phase-out of fur farming would cost public authorities €144 million ($169m), compared with €201 million ($236m) to €920 million ($1.08bn) for tighter welfare standards, according to a report commissioned by Four Paws.

The report, Pay to stay or pay to go, assesses public-budget costs only. It does not quantify wider economic, trade, environmental or public-health effects.
