French recycler slashes textile collections

PARIS — French textile collector Le Relais is withdrawing nearly 4,300 clothing banks and axing about 60 social inclusion jobs across France as a deepening crisis in used textile markets makes core collection routes uneconomic.

The Emmaüs France-backed social enterprise, which handles roughly 40% of national textile collection, will reduce its intake by about 15,000 tonnes of clothing, footwear and household textiles, according to a company statement.
