Industry representatives warn EPR schemes will not immediately resolve the pressures on textile collection, sorting and recycling
MUNICH – Speaking on day two of Performance Days, representatives of producer responsibility organisations (PROs) said the EU’s revised Waste Framework Directive is a starting point, not a complete solution.
The directive requires member states to establish EPR schemes for textiles and footwear. Producers will pay fees based on products placed on the market, with revenue intended to support collection, sorting, reuse, recycling and disposal.
