DHAKA - Hundreds of garment factories have reopened in Bangladesh despite the ongoing nationwide lockdown to limit the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Thousands of workers flocked back to factories in the capital Dhaka and nearby cities, including Gazipur, Narayanganj and Ashulia, despite the lack of public transport.

Bangladesh's lockdown has been extended to at least 5th May but export-focused garment factories with orders have been given permission to reopen on a limited scale.
