DHAKA - Fears are being expressed for the safety of workers as garment factories continue to open in Bangladesh despite an ongoing lockdown to limit the spread of coronavirus.

Campaigners are urging brands sourcing from the reopened factories, said to include PVH, Sainsbury, H&M, C&A, Marks & Spencer, Next and Esprit, to make clear they will accept delayed orders.

More than 1,000 export-focused factories have reportedly now reopened as owners say their businesses are threatened by a loss of income which means they are struggling to pay workers' wages.
