DHAKA – The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has advised the Ministry of Labour to close 46 factories across Bangladesh which represent the remaining one per cent of sites yet to pay workers their wages for March.

The BGMEA sent a letter to state minister Begum Monnujan Sufian, requesting capital for these select facilities from the Central Fund of Government to tide them over throughout this trialling period.

Many of the workers that have demonstrated in Ashulia, Savar, Gazipur and Narayanganj of late are said to belong to the factories in question.
