AMSTERDAM - An event staged in the Netherlands to promote the Bangladesh garment manufacturing industry has been disrupted by activists calling for justice for murdered trade unionist Shahidul Islam.
Members of the Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC) and XR Fashion Action stood up repeatedly at the event to demand justice for Islam’s family, as well as safeguards for workers' rights and a new minimum wage.
The 'Amsterdam: Best of Bangladesh Europe’ event has been organised by Bangladesh Apparel Exchange (BAE), with support from the government of Bangladesh.
