Union leader urges Adidas to act on unpaid workers

NUREMBERG – Workers rights activists, including a key Cambodian trade union leader, will urge Adidas shareholders convening for the company’s annual general meeting (AGM), to takes steps to protect workers within the sportswear giant’s supply chain.

Speaking at a venue close to the AGM, Sithyneth Ry, president of the Independent Trade Union Federation (INTUFE) representing workers at the Hulu Garment Factory, will appeal to Adidas to pay $1.1 million in outstanding severance pay to 500 of the factory’s former workers while also calling on the company to protect its supply chain’s workers from future disruption.
