A leading German environmental watchdog has nominated Primark for its annual ‘Golden Vulture’, a major greenwashing award from an organisation well known for initiating legal proceedings
HANOVER – Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) – Environmental Action Germany – has nominated Primark for its notorious ‘Golden Vulture’ award, accusing the retailer of greenwashing through its ‘Primark Cares’ label. The logo, intended to convey responsibility, is described by the consumer and environmental group as a self-issued “green badge of convenience,” earning the Dublin-based retailer an unenviable spot among Germany’s most high-profile corporate offenders.
Launched in 2019, the award has become one of the most effective instruments of public pressure in the German sustainability landscape.
