SEC moves to kill climate disclosure rule

The US regulator formally initiates the process to scrap its 2024 climate-risk reporting requirements, ending any prospect of enforcement

WASHINGTON — The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has begun the formal process of rescinding its 2024 climate-related disclosure rules, submitting a proposed rescission to the White House's Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) for review.

An SEC spokesperson confirmed the move, stating: "At the chairman's direction, SEC staff is preparing a recommendation to the Commission to rescind the agency's 2024 climate rules."
