Shein to acquire sustainability-led brand for $100m

Ultra-fast fashion giant on the verge of buying apparel brand founded upon values of an ‘anti-fast fashion’ business model which included ‘radical transparency’ and sustainability

The deal means Shein would have access to 11 physical stores in the US.

SAN FRANCISCO/SINGAPORE – Chinese ultra-fast fashion giant Shein is set to acquire US apparel brand Everlane in a $100 million deal that could significantly improve regulatory optics.

The sale by private equity firm and Everlane’s majority owner, L Catterton, is said to be a debt-driven exit, but would symbolise a major departure from the sustainable values upon which the company was founded.
