Ebay survey charts rising secondhand demand

Monthly secondhand purchases increase among surveyed shoppers, while findings call for caution over environmental claims

SAN JOSE — Ebay’s 2026 Recommerce Report shows growing secondhand purchasing among surveyed consumers, with 83% recognising environmental benefits and 80% wanting products designed for longevity and repair.

The findings cover multiple product categories, including fashion and footwear. Some 47% of respondents said they bought secondhand goods at least monthly, compared with 35% in the previous report.
