In this new webinar, Austrian fibre manufacturer Lenzing discusses its recently published 2024 sustainability where it outlines the progress it has made against all of its stringent environmental and social targets.

Viewers can hear Lenzing outline how it will meet updated targets to reduce near term scope 1 and 2 absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 42% and scope 3 absolute GHG emissions by 25% by 2030 from a 2021 baseline, and to achieve at least a 90% reduction in GHG emissions (scopes 1,2 and 3) by 2050. The man-made cellulosic supplier has ad these climate targets verified by the Science Based Targets initiative to align with the 1.5°C limit of the Paris Agreement in 2024, making Lenzing’s net zero target scientifically validated.

Speakers:

  • Krishna Manda, VP Corporate sustainability
  • Thomas Matiz, Product sustainability
  • Kerstin Zimmermann, Social sustainability

Host: Norma Schonherr

Also under discussion are updates on the company’s efforts to complete major projects to enhance Lenzing’s manufacturing facilities in key markets. These include a shift away from coal and the installation of a natural gas-fired power plant at its facility in Nanjing, China, the construction of an upgraded wastewater treatment plan at its plant in Grimsby, UK, and confirmation that two Lenzing lyocell sites and all three Lenzing viscose sites have now successfully completed their ZDHC Supplier to Zero Platform assessment.

Lenzing has also provided a Slideshow to accompany the webinar presentation.

Viewers can also choose to listen to a recent Ecotextile Talks podcast with Lenzing on its progress to meet these targets.
