The National Science Foundation has renewed funding for the NSF Textile Innovation Engine of North Carolina, committing $16 million to support more than a dozen projects led by North Carolina State University researchers, with up to $45 million possible over three years.
The engine, launched in 2024 and powered by non-profit hub the Industrial Commons, aims to strengthen textile manufacturing, bolster supply chain resilience and accelerate next-generation technologies across the US southeast textile belt.
