GITEGA – In an effort to grow the East African nation of Burundi’s agriculture industry, which is accountable for 90 per cent of the country’s exports, a new development plan has been unveiled that will centre on training female workers in garment manufacture.

The cultivation of cotton and other raw materials is profitable for Burundi, and so it’s hoped that by equipping more workers with the skills needed to produce goods using such resources, it can be mutually beneficial both for people and the economy.
