AMSTERDAM – The founder of Dutch apparel brand Byborre, Borre Akkersdijk, has written an open letter to the industry to explain why his firm’s latest collection will be the only one it releases this year.

He said the company has taken the last six months to review its processes, impact and textile usage as a label, and is keen to “rewrite the rules of responsible textile creation”.

“We believe this is more appropriate for the times we live in and the world we want to see,” Akkersdijk noted.
