BRASILIA – The Better Cotton initiative and the Brazilian Association of Cotton Producers (ABRAPA) are staging a workshop to help develop a national pest management strategy in Brazil.
Cotton farmers face a major challenge in reducing their use of pesticides in Brazil where the tropical climate and longer agronomic cycle bring intense pest pressure, in particular from the boll weevil.
The Integrated Pest Management (IPM) workshop, being held in Brasilia until tomorrow, will discuss a roadmap for a national IPM strategy. It will share best practices, research and new innovations on the control of pests and diseases in the cotton crop.
