WAKEFIELD – MCL News & Media, the publisher of leading B2B titles including Ecotextile News, has today launched a new multimedia platform to share the latest sustainability news and analysis from the apparel and textiles industry.

This online video news channel, Ecotextile Views, will deliver content in a range of short and longer form video updates designed to complement the written and audio news outputs of Ecotextile News and Ecotextile Talks respectively.

Ecotextile Views videos are freely accessible via a new section of the Ecotextile News website or by subscribing to the @ecotextileviews YouTube channel.

Regular features on the channel will include News in 90, a speedy 90-second overview of a story in the news, and more in-depth Five Minute Focus items. Ecotextile Views output will also comprise special reports and longer form documentaries, with new content being published throughout each and every week of the year.

All video news updates will include exclusive comment from individuals at the heart of the story, with subject matter as broad as that covered by Ecotextile News.

“Short form videos and audio podcasts are the best way to both engage and inform the next generation of sustainability professionals in our industry,” said John Mowbray, founder and editor of Ecotextile News.

“Nearly 20% of 18-24 year olds now prefer to watch news content rather than read about it, according to a new study from Reuters, so our on-going strategy to diversify the delivery of our content is definitely the right way to go.”

Videos published today as part of the Ecotextile Views launch include News in 90 items on satellite monitoring of organic cotton crops, the correlation between garment retail price and durability, Australia’s experimentation with a voluntary garment levy, California’s EPR legislation and a Japan Airlines rental fashion initiative.

Five Minute Focus videos also released today explore the findings of a recent Cotton Campaign report into the state of play in Turkmenistan and a nascent push from some in the apparel sector for a digital overhaul of clothing labels.

All this content can be accessed via the Ecotextile Views channel on YouTube.

“We were ahead of the game when we launched Ecotextile News back in 2007 as a purpose-led initiative to change the way the fashion industry works,” Mowbray continued, adding: “now with the addition of Ecotextile Views and Ecotextile Talks we are still the only publication that is solely dedicated to environmental and social issues in global fashion supply chains; delivering news in the three main methods of human communication: the written word, the spoken word and now in video format.”

You can explore all our video content at ecotextile.com/videos and subscribe now to the @ecotextileviews YouTube channel to ensure you never miss the latest Ecotextile Views video content.
