The latest Retail Returns Landscape report from the NRF and Happy Returns suggests the annual returns rate may be falling
WASHINGTON – US retailers estimate that 15.8% of their annual sales will be returned this year, totalling $849.9 billion, according to the 2025 Retail Returns Landscape report from the National Retail Federation (NRF) and Happy Returns, a UPS company.
The estimated returns rate is lower than the figure for 2024, when returns totalled $890 billion, with a rate of 16.9%.
