PHNOM PENH – Labour unions in Cambodia will reportedly request a US$10-20 wage increase for garment workers at upcoming talks with authorities.

Tripartite talks between the government and representatives of employers and workers are expected to get underway next month, at which union bosses will cite economic growth projections and the impact of inflation as reasons for their proposed wage hike.

According to the Phnom Penh Post, a date hasn’t yet been set for talks, but National Trade Union Coalition (NTUC) president Far Saly believes a pay increase shouldn’t fall short of US$204.
